Label compliance & translation

One recipe.
Twenty-four rulebooks.

Label Maker builds a print-ready label for every market you export to — the right nutrition panel, the right allergen wording, the right warnings — and translates it into the destination language, headings and all. You enter the recipe once.

Mustard is a declarable allergen in the European Union. It is not one of the nine the United States recognises. Same jar, two legally different labels — and that is one divergence out of thousands.

What this market demands
    Why labels fail

A shipment does not get rejected for tasting wrong.

It gets rejected for a missing declaration, a nutrition table in the wrong format, or an ingredient nobody translated. These are the four that stop containers most often — and all four are decidable before anything goes to print.

    Failure 01

    An allergen nobody declared

Allergen lists are not universal. Mustard and celery are declarable in the EU and not in the US. Sesame joined the US big-nine only in 2023. Buckwheat is declarable in Japan and Korea and almost nowhere else.

    Failure 02

    The wrong nutrition format

The US wants per serving with Added Sugars. The EU wants per 100 g with energy in both kilojoules and kilocalories. India wants both, plus per-serve. Copying one panel into another market's artwork fails on sight.

    Failure 03

    A missing front-of-pack warning

Chile, Peru and Colombia require black octagons above set sugar, sodium, saturated fat and energy thresholds. The mark is mandatory, its size scales with pack area, and its absence is an immediate hold.

    Failure 04

An additive that is legal at home

An additive cleared in India can be prohibited in your destination, or permitted only in other food categories at other levels. Label Maker checks each one against that market's own positive list before you print.

See the actual screens before you sign up for anything.

This is the real product, not a mockup. Six steps from recipe to print file — the wizard asks only what it cannot work out for itself, and everything derivable from your recipe is computed rather than typed. Click through and see exactly what you would be working in.

    The rest of Label Maker

Building a label is one of six workspaces.

The wizard above is where labels get made. These are the rooms next door — for artwork you already have, additives you are unsure about, and the reference data behind every number. Same product, same screens.

Every label and audit, filed automatically.

Nothing is saved by hand. Every label you build and every audit you run is filed the moment you make it, searchable, with a recycle bin behind it. Reopen a label months later, duplicate it for a new market, or pull the audit report a buyer just asked for.

Which allergens must you declare, and where?

There is no single global allergen list. This is the comparison most exporters find out about the hard way — and it is the kind of check Label Maker runs on every ingredient you enter.

    Inside the product

    Compliance-first, not a design tool.

Every output is traceable to a rule in a specific market's regulation — the citation travels with the label, so your buyer's QA team can check the working.

    01

    Market rulebooks

Twenty-four markets, each with its own mandatory particulars, nutrition format, date-marking form and warning set. Choose the destination and the rules change underneath you.

    02

    Nutrition from the recipe

Enter the recipe once. Per-100 g and per-serving values are computed from a food-composition database, then rendered in the destination's required table — never retyped off old artwork.

    03

    Allergen and additive checks

Undeclared allergens are caught from the ingredient list itself. Additives are resolved to E-numbers or INS codes and checked against that market's positive list, including category-specific limits.

    04

    Thirty-three languages

Ingredient lists and mandatory statements translated from a regulated food-label glossary — not generic machine translation, which is how "may contain traces" becomes nonsense in Polish.

    05

Pack preview with real type sizes

Fifteen markets carry a full display and type-size matrix, so you can see the label at its printed size and know the x-height clears the legal minimum before the plate is cut.

    06

    Print-ready output

A clean PDF your printer can work from, plus every label kept as a reusable draft — duplicate it, adapt it for the next market, and keep the version history.

The other half of the job

A compliant label in a language nobody reads is still rejected.

Getting the rules right is half of it. The label then has to be in the destination's language — and not just your ingredient list. The headings around it are regulated too: what a market accepts as the word for “Ingredients”, “Best Before” or “Net Quantity” is set by its own rules, not by a dictionary.

    33Languages

Arabic for the GCC, Bahasa for Malaysia and Indonesia, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, and every official EU language.

    1,057Label terms

A standing glossary of regulated label wording — not translated afresh each time, so the same term reads the same on every label you print.

    6Field types

    headings · allergens · nutrients · ingredients · certifications · instructions.

    BothSides of the label

Your own wording and the standard headings are translated together, so the panel is complete rather than half-English.

Translations are held against that glossary and reviewed, not produced fresh on every export — which is what keeps “Best Before” from becoming three different phrases across three of your own SKUs.

    33Label languages

The twenty-four official EU languages plus Canadian French, Latin American Spanish, Arabic, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian and Malay — drawn from a curated food-label glossary of over a thousand regulated terms.

    15Pack-preview regimes

India, the US, Canada, the EU, the UK, Australia and New Zealand, the six GCC states, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia and Thailand — each with its own display and type-size matrix.

    27Additive rulebooks

The Additive Checker reaches further than label building: twenty-seven markets, each resolved against its own positive list, with prohibition taking precedence over silence.
